Outside of his culinary career, Jonathan Cepelak enjoys writing and photography as personal passions and hobbies. Having originally gone to school for journalism like his hero, political journalist Hunter S. Thompson, Jonathan also likes the literary musings of chef Anthony Bourdain.
Jonathan Cepelak is a motivated business professional in the food and beverage industry. With over six years of experience in fine dining, Jonathan has become an expert in his field.
Jonathan Cepelak’s work experiences range from food and beverage management to event planning and hotel management. His positions as a food and beverage manager and brewery assistant manager have provided him the opportunity to work in partnership with executive chefs, general managers, and owners to reach common organizational goals. Jonathan has successfully planned and supervised many events at wineries, breweries, and other venues across Long Island. Cepelak’s passions lie in the creation of food and beverage items, the pairing of food with wine and specialty beers, and the design of memorable events.
Today, Jonathan Cepelak works as an Assistant Manager at Greenport Harbor Brewery. Offering some of the most exceptional beer on Long Island, Greenport Harbor Brewery has been featured in the Village Voice, Newsday, TimeOutNY, and The Wall Street Journal, amongst others. As the Assistant Manager, Jonathan Cepelak, he runs the tasting room on a day-to-day basis while also providing help to the kitchen, working on planning menus and curate dishes.
Jonathan Cepelak is proficient in inventory and record-keeping (BevSpot/Excel), menu design (InDesign), word processing, and POS software (Salido/Hartbortouch/Baseline) for all areas of hospitality marketing and management. With an ability to maintain composure and a high level of professionalism in high-stress environments, Cepelak has been a valued member of leadership throughout his career.
Jonathan Cepelak has over six years of experience in Guest Relations, Food, and Beverage Presentation and Event Planning. Having held positions at Green Hill Kitchens of Greenport and Caci in Southold, Jonathan has worked in all aspects having to do with Front of the House and operations. He has his SCDOH food handler’s certificate, is a trained bartender, a cocktail recipe enthusiast and is TIPS certified. Originally from Southold, Jonathan Cepelak attended Loyola University in New Orleans and majored in Communications and then attended Suffolk Community College and studied Hotel and Resort Management.
With plans to further his education through SUNY Delhi University, Jonathan is excited to expand his knowledge of the industry. Ultimately, Jonathan would love to open up a restaurant of his own.
